Look at that picture! It's absolutely beautiful isn't it? So inspiring and calming all at the same time. The crispness of the blue sky and the boldness of the rainbow kind of rejuvenates your spirit. Admire how the rainbow hugs mother earth. All seems at peace with 1 another. The gay community is known 4 its rainbow trade mark all over the world! But it makes perfect sense 2 compare the happiest people in the world, 2 a bright beam of colorful lights doesn't it? As a matter of fact, when you look up the definition 4 the word gay, it reads: Happy. Need I say more?
It saddens me that some of the happiest people in the world, can't shine like the rainbows we are due 2 the limitations that have been placed upon us. When people are limited from shining, this can cause useless stress and bruised egos. With gay couple's its 'double trouble' because it's 2 stressed out bruised ego's, trying 2 work 2gether, but trying not 2 bump heads at the same time. You try 2 maintain normalcy and stay positive, while maneuvering through life's daily obstacle course. It's a course that seems 2 go on 4ever, you never know what 2 expect, but you usually have great experiences that empower you 2 talk about them later. Hint. I'm going 2 talk about them now :-)
I decided 2 write down a few anti-gay couple issues that I'm sick 'n' tired of, and if you're sick 'n' tired 2, join me by leaving a comment below. Just your name, age, sexual orientation and what anti-gay issues or remarks are you sick 'n' tired of? I'll begin.
LA, 30, gay
1. Being secretive about your marriage at work ( if found out that could cost you your job)
1. Being secretive about your marriage at work ( if found out that could cost you your job)
2. Not holding hands in certain areas 4 fear of 'The Look'
3. People trying 2 guess how we're related because we have the same last name. Of course we couldn't be married! That's 2 far-fetched 4 some folks....even though we're clearly wearing matching wedding bands!
4. Losing close relationships
5. Living in a state that doesn't acknowledge your marital status (filing single on your w-2's is a bummer....and I live in 1 of the gayest cities in America!)
6. Working at a job that doesn't acknowledge or offer benefits 4 domestic/same-sex partnerships
7. Always feeling like you have 2 be on defense
8. Looking 4 places 2 reside and getting turned away when being honest about your relationship
Why should we have 2 mask who we are, when who we are is beautiful? We're trying 2 show you the good in us, but 4 some reason all some people see is bad. Murderers and rapists have 2 mask the bad side of themselves 2 try and appear good 2 others. Gay people are forced 2 mask the good in order 2 fit in. How backwards is that? Thank goodness 2 those of us who are loud and proud!
Remember, those that do the shining. Shine 4 all.
Peace
LA
