LA's Perspective on Movie: 'The Kids Are Alright'

My wife and I decided 2 sit and finally watch the much anticipated and celebrated lesbian flick, 'The Kids Are Alright'. The 1st thing I noticed was the complete change of lesbian looks. Normally on television when lesbians are portrayed, the cast includes very hot and very sexy LA type lipstick lesbians. The 2 lesbians in this film were nowhere near hot or sexy, but instead looked downtrodden, tired and very plain.

As we continued watching the film we were enjoying the storyline. What killed our enjoyment was the fact that the plot included a male counter part that had sex with 1 of the lesbian moms! And multiple times at that! Needless 2 say we didn't really care 2 watch the rest.

Let me make myself clear. It's not that we're against heterosexual sex, but when there aren't many lesbian flicks to begin with, the last thing you want 2 see is a lesbian having sex with a man. It defeats the whole purpose of watching a 'lesbian' film. I can understand the kids wanting 2 meet their father (sperm donor), but the message came across 2 us that even if you're a lesbian, you always still want a man in the end, making people believe that lesbian relationships aren't plentiful.

Lesbian films do not receive much attention anyway but I knew there had 2 be a catch, because this film was blown up way more than any other lesbian movie. And of course it's because it shows a man having sex with a woman. Matter of fact, the sex scenes with the male and the female is actually more graphic and detailed than the sex scene with the 2 lesbians. The lesbian sex scene shows 1 female, who's watching gay male sex and you hear a vibrator in the background. I hate that! I don't want the world thinking that lesbians sit around watching gay male sex and using vibrators! That just isn't true. There are many, many ways that lesbians have sex, and if a camera was 2 actual catch what really goes down, it would probably be so hot and heavy that it would blow heterosexual sex out the water!

Is this the reason why 'mainstream' movies are scared 4 people 2 witness the real deal? Would it be 2 much 2 handle...lol. Or is it that men are scared they'd be counted out altogether....lol!

2 all film director's out there. Please! If you're going 2 depict lesbians in a positive light and in sex scenes, do some research 1st and get it right. Because from this film lesbians look boring, sexless, deprived and plain. And that just ain't us.....
