Michael Sam proposed on his 25th birthday to the love of his life Vito Cammisano, outside the Vatican as they vacationed in Europe.
Sam wrote on his Facebook wall, "Thank you for making my 25th birthday a very special one." The athlete also said on Twitter on Friday, "Thank you for saying yes."
Same-sex marriage has taken America by storm and is now legal in 36 states with Florida becoming the most recent add-on -- making only 14 states yet to conform as the U.S. Supreme Court is currently deciding whether states can ban gay marriage.
Congrats to the obviously happy couple!
